An incident of rape of a Dalit minor has come to light in Khandasa, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. However, the police took immediate action in this case and arrested the accused of the crime, Shahban, after an encounter.

Shahban was shot in the leg in the encounter. He has been admitted to the district hospital. The rape incident took place 20 days ago. Both the victim and the accused Shahban are residents of the same village. At the time of the incident, one of Shahban's companions was also present. After the incident, Shahban and his companion fled but the victim's family kept receiving threats. On September 2, Shahban along with his companions reached the victim's house and threatened them. Meanwhile, on Thursday night, during an intensive search operation, the police tried to stop two bike riders, one of whom was Shahban. According to the police, when Shahban fired at the police team, the police also retaliated, in which a bullet hit Shahban's leg. His companion took advantage of the darkness and escaped. During the search, a pistol, a cartridge shell and a live cartridge were recovered from Shahban. A bike without number has also been seized. The police have registered an FIR against Shahban under sections related to SC-ST Act, rape, POCSO and threats.
