News India Live, Digital Desk: A sensational case has come to light in Kashi, the city of religion and spirituality, where an international game of cheating American citizens was going on with a school building in the dark of night. The Varanasi police has busted a big fake call center, who called innocent Americans and scared them and then used to take millions of rupees from them. In this case, the police have arrested 29 people, many of whom are youths from other states who spoke English.
‘Fraud market’ was decorated at midnight in school building
The entire Gorakhdhandha was operating from the building of a public school near Amra intersection in Rohania area of Varanasi. No one could think from outside that such a big network of cyber fraud is being run here at night. The police had received intelligence that some suspicious activity is going on from this place. After this, when the cybercrime team and Rohania police raided on Wednesday-Thursday at around 3 pm, they were surprised to see the view there.
Dozens of boys and girls were talking in English in a loud voice with headphones. Police caught 29 people red handed from the spot. A large number of laptops, computers, mobile phones and servers have been recovered from them.
How did American citizens trap?
The way of working of these vicious thugs was a film. What was revealed in police interrogation is very shocking:
- Data Jugaad: This gang first used to get personal data (name, phone number) of American citizens in dark web or other wrong ways
- fake call: Subsequently, these people used to call an automated (IVR) to American citizens using foreign servers like Singapore. This call was mostly named after companies like Amazon or Flipkart, stating that “an expensive goods have been purchased in your name, pressing a press to confirm.
- Game of fear: Obviously, when no one bought the goods, he would refuse. It was from here that the real game of thugs started. The call would immediately transfer to an agent, which would tell the victim that the parcel being sent in your name has illegal items like drugs or child pornography, so this case is serious.
- Recovery by becoming fake police: After the victim was severely nervous, the call would have transferred to a third person, who would talk as a police or a legal officer. He would have demanded money in the name of making the case a lot of fear of legal action to the victim. These people used gift cards like bitcoin or walmart to recover money so that they could not be easily traced.
The mastermind of this gang is being described as Kaushalendra Tiwari, a resident of Mohali, Punjab. In order to speak good English, the gangs of the northeastern states like Nagaland and Meghalaya were hired in the gang, so that American citizens do not have any doubt. The Varanasi police has started investigating the rest of the wires of this big network and is also taking help from central agencies like IB.
