The Union Ministry of Labor and Employment is going to expand health services for workers in the organized sector. Under this, members of the State Employees Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and their families will also get treatment in the hospitals included in the panel under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana by the end of April. Union Labor and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandavia gave this information on Tuesday. This initiative will benefit 14.45 crore people.
New facility of treatment under ESIC and Ayushman Yojana
The minister informed that the process of implementing this scheme at the ministry level has started and all necessary approvals have been provided. Members associated with ESIC will be provided treatment facility in hospitals included in the panels under the Ayushman Yojana, but the entire cost of treatment will be borne by ESIC.
He also clarified that the limit of Rs 5 lakh of treatment will not be implemented under the Ayushman scheme. ESIC members and their families will be covered by ESIC.
Extension of healthcare – workers will directly benefit
-
ESIC does not have hospitals in many parts of the country or the available facilities are limited.
-
Many times the workers are inconvenienced due to being away from the hospital home.

Workers from 15 districts of Uttar Pradesh will also join ESIC
The Ministry of Labor has notified 15 more districts of Uttar Pradesh to become members of ESIC. Now except Banda, 74 out of 75 districts of UP have joined ESIC. This decision will benefit about 2.5 lakh people, including more than 53,000 workers and their families of these districts.
