Everyone takes the name of Radha, but do you know what Rukmini did to get Krishna?

But, do you know that the story of Goddess Rukmini, who got the status of ‘wife’ in Krishna’s life, was no less than a film drama? This is a love story full of courage, rebellion and an unbreakable trust.

Often people think that in olden times, marriages took place only with the consent of the parents, but the marriage of Rukmini and Krishna is proof that true love can break every bond.

Rukmini’s heart and brother’s stubbornness

Rukmini was the daughter of King Bhishmak of Vidarbha country. She was very beautiful and intelligent. She had never seen Krishna, but after hearing the stories of Krishna’s bravery and beauty from the sages and people coming to the court, she had accepted him as her husband in her mind. It is said that for love it is not necessary to see, it is enough to feel.

But the twist in the story came when Rukmini’s brother ‘Rukmi’ intervened. Rukmi hated Shri Krishna. He wanted to marry his sister to the Chedi king ‘Sishupala’. The wedding date was fixed, preparations started, but Rukmini had only Saawariya in her heart.

The letter that changed history

When Rukmini felt that now all the roads were closed, she took a step which was a big thing in the limits of that time. He sent a love letter to Shri Krishna in the hands of a Brahmin. This is perhaps one of the most discussed letters in history.

Rukmini wrote in that letter – “O Bhuvan Sundar, after hearing your qualities, my mind has shamelessly settled in you. My brother wants to marry me to Shishupala. If you do not come, I will give up my life, but will not belong to anyone else.”

Not only this, how intelligent Rukmini was can be seen from the fact that she also told Krishna about her ‘plan’ to come. She wrote, “On the wedding day, I will go to the temple outside the city to worship Kuldevi Gauri. You come there and abduct me.”

Exciting ‘kidnapping’ and marriage in the temple

As soon as Shri Krishna read that letter, he immediately left for Vidarbha with the charioteer Daruk. On the other hand, Shishupala was ready with the wedding procession and on the other hand, Rukmini was worshiping in the temple, but her eyes were only searching for Dwarkadhish.

As soon as Rukmini came out after performing puja, Krishna arrived there. In view of all the kings and soldiers, he made Rukmini sit in his chariot. Seeing this scene there was a commotion there. Rukmi and Shishupala’s army chased them and a war took place, but no one could stand before the bravery of Shri Krishna.

Finally, after reaching Dwarka, both of them got married with full rituals and thus a princess won the Lord with her devotion and courage.
