In a heartbreaking case, an Indian citizen has accused the Pakistan government of deliberately denying him a visa to meet his ailing father. Now that his father has passed away, the son could not even bid him a final farewell in his own country.

An Indian citizen named Anshuman has shared his pain through social media and media platforms. Anshuman’s father was in Pakistan and was seriously ill for a long time. Anshuman visited the Pakistan High Commission several times and requested for a visa on humanitarian grounds, so that he could be with his father in his last moments.
Anshuman alleges that he had submitted all the necessary documents and medical reports, but Pakistani authorities repeatedly rejected his application without giving any concrete reason.

The sad thing is that Anshuman’s father died while waiting for the visa. Now Anshuman has talked about raising this ‘cruelty’ of Pakistan on the international platform.
Questions raised on visa policy on humanitarian grounds
The case is a reminder of the thousands of families that were divided between the two countries after the partition of 1947. Although there are some visa rules for ‘religious pilgrimage’ between the two countries, diplomatic tensions often come in the way in cases of ‘Emergency Family Visit’.
