New Delhi:The Government of India has made a big change in traffic challans rules to strengthen road safety and reduce road accidents. From now on, if a minor is caught driving a vehicle, then its serious consequences will be not only on the minor, but also on their parents or parents. The purpose of this new rule is to motivate parents to prevent their children from driving illegally and reduce the risks from minor driving.
New rules and strict punishment related to them:
Under this new rule implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH):
-
Heavy fines: If someone is caught driving a minor vehicle (bike or car) under the age of 18, his parents or vehicle owner will have to pay a heavy fine of ₹ 25,000. This is a major economic burden that parents have been imposed to prevent such negligence.
-
Jail sentence: Along with the fine, the owner or guardian of the vehicle can also be sentenced to a jail of up to 3 years. This is a very strict provision that shows how seriously the government is taking this issue.
-
Vehicle registration canceled: Registration Certificate – RC will also be canceled by the vehicle from which the minor is caught. This will ban the vehicle legally from walking on the road, which will reduce the chances of such an incident again.
-
Effect on minor: The concerned minor will not get a driving license till the age of 25 years. This will be a long -term ban on them, which will encourage them to follow the rules.
Impact of new motor vehicle act:
This change comes under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, which came into effect in September 2019, the main objective of which is to improve road safety standards and give more stringent punishment for traffic violations. The Act has amended many old rules to effectively curb problems such as driving, driving driving, and driving by minors.
The purpose of this new rule is to make parents more responsible so that they make sure that their minor children do not drive vehicles without a valid driving license. This will help increase security for all on the road.
