He said that the proposal to change the name of Nagar Panchayat and Assembly should be sent to the government soon. That means, the day is not far when you will see ‘Pavanagar’ written instead of ‘Fazilnagar’ on government papers and boards.
Development as well as heritage
Not just the name, the government also wants to make this area shine on the tourism map. After the construction of International Airport in Kushinagar, tourists from India and abroad are coming here. If Fazilnagar is developed as ‘Pavanagar’, Buddhist devotees from all over the world will come here, which will provide employment to the local people and lead to development of the area.
What will the opposition say?
Obviously, whenever the name changes, there is some politics involved. But there is a lot of enthusiasm among the local people about this decision. He believes that the name ‘Pavanagar’ has a familiarity and weight which was not there in ‘Fazilnagar’.
