Madhavi Puri Butch Sebi News: Former SEBI chairman Madhavi Puri Buch has got a big relief. The Lokpal has given him a clean chit after investigating allegations of corruption. The Lokpal has said that the allegations made are based on only speculation and beliefs without any concrete evidence. The complaints were based on the Hindonburg Research Report, but the Lokpal considered this report inadequate for action.

The anti -corruption Lokpal has further stated that there is no physical evidence to order an inquiry against Buch. The order passed by the Lokpal states, “We have come to the conclusion that the allegations made in the complaints are based on perceptions and estimates and are not supported by any verification material and part three of the 1988 Act do not reflect any elements of crimes, therefore, these complaints are settled accordingly, so that they can be examined and instructed.”

Since the prosecutors were aware of this situation, they wisely tried to present the allegations independently of the said report. But when we analyzed the allegations, they found that they are baseless, unproven and trivial. The order was issued on 28 May.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and two others lodged a complaint against Madhabi Puri Buch in 2023. The complaint alleged that Buch and her husband had a stake in several foreign funds.

Buch and her husband denied the allegations, saying that the short-selling company is trying to attack the credibility of the country’s regulatory body. The Adani Group also described these allegations as misleading and false.
