France’s Marine Le Pen was found guilty in corruption case, ban on contesting elections for five years

Paris: A French court on Monday found the leader of the National Rally Party Marine Le Penne guilty in the embezzlement of European Parliament. This decision has caused a dramatic turn in French politics. With the court’s decision, Le Penn has been banned from contesting elections for five years. He will not be able to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The court sentenced Le Penn to four years in jail. Out of which two years have been suspended. The remaining two years will have to be spent by being under house arrest. Apart from this, they will also have to pay a fine of $ 1,08,000. It is surprising for the decision to decide, who is an influential person in politics. After contesting for the presidency three times, she reached the final round against Emmanuel Macron twice and was considered a strong contender for 2027.

His party emerged as the largest party in the Parliament in the 2024 by -elections. It is alleged that this long -term plan belongs to Lee Paine and members of 24 other parties, including leaders of European Parliament and their allies. The prosecutors argued that the defendants misused the $ 4.8 million funds of the European Parliament allocated to parliamentary assistants and redirected it to pay party employees in France.
