News India Live, Digital Desk: The security of the three largest and sensitive religious places of Uttar Pradesh – the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi and the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur – is now about to reach a new and highly advanced level. The state government is now going to use cameras equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor these three temples. These will not be just ordinary CCTV cameras, but can be called the ‘third eye’ which will not only keep an eye on every movement, but will also be capable of thinking and sending alerts on their own.

The main objective of this high-tech security system is to provide a safe and comfortable environment to the crores of devotees visiting these temples.

What is this AI camera technology and how will it work?

This is no ordinary surveillance system. These cameras equipped with AI can do many things which are difficult or almost impossible for humans:

  1. Accurate counting and crowd management: These cameras will accurately count every person coming and going in the temple premises. This will make it easier to find out how many people are present in the temple at any time. If the crowd increases beyond a certain limit, the system will automatically send an alert to the control room, thereby preventing situations like stampede before they happen.
  2. Face Recognition Technology: The faces of suspects and criminals will be pre-fed in the database of these cameras. As soon as any listed person comes in the sight of the camera, this system will immediately inform the security personnel. This will make it much easier to catch pickpockets, thieves and other anti-social elements.
  3. Identifying Suspicious Behavior: These cameras will also keep an eye on any unusual behavior of a person, like leaving a bag unattended somewhere, trying to enter a restricted area or doing strange acts and issue an alert immediately.
  4. Accurate record of every activity: The data received from these cameras will be completely accurate and verified, which can be analyzed to further improve future security plans and devotee management.

Why was this system needed?

After the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya, the number of devotees has increased manifold. Similarly, lakhs of people come to visit Kashi Vishwanath Dham and Gorakhnath Temple every day. Ensuring the safety of such a large number of people is a huge challenge. This AI based surveillance system will play an important role in meeting this challenge, which will not only strengthen the security but will also make the experience of the devotees better and safer.

This step reflects the commitment of the Yogi Adityanath government to equip the religious places of the state with world-class facilities and impenetrable security.
