After the decisions of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, the prices of many essential and amateur things have increased from today i.e. 22 September. This change in the rates of GST is going to affect your pocket.

Tax burden increased on these things:

1. Soft drinks and carbonated drinks: Now drinking any kind of cold drink or carbonated beverages will become expensive. The cess on these has been increased, due to which their prices will rise.
2. Cars (SUV, MUV and Sedan): If you were planning to buy a new car, especially a big car such as SUV, MUV or sedan, now you have to spend more money. The cess on these trains has also been increased, which will make car companies to increase prices.
3. Railway parts and services: The journey of the train has not become directly expensive, but the GST rate has been increased on some services and parts related to the railway. Its effect can be seen on railway fares or other services in the coming time.
4. Pre-packed and label products: GST was already on the products with packs and labels like flour, curd, cheese, now it has been said to include more things in this list and change the rates of some, which can affect your kitchen budget.

Why increased prices?

The government believes that increasing tax on these goods will increase revenue and it is necessary for the economy. It is decided to change these rates only after deliberations between the states and the Center in the GST Council meetings.
