News India Live, Digital Desk: GPS: Google Maps Today we have become an important part of our life. We immediately remove our phone in an unknown city or to avoid traffic. But it must have happened many times when Google Maps implicated you in a tight street, where it became difficult to get out or brought you to a closed path.
After all, why does this happen? Despite such advance technology, how does Google Maps make a mistake? There are many reasons behind it.
The life of Google Maps is his GPS (Global Positioning System), which takes a signal from the satellite and tells your location. But when you are between tall buildings, passing under a tunnel or dense flyover, these signals weaken. In such a situation, maps do not know your correct location and it can show you the wrong direction.
2. Outdated data
Cities are changing very fast in a country like India. Today, where the road is open, construction can start tomorrow or there may be a road ‘One-way’. Google Maps updates its data from government agencies, users and its survey vehicles. But these changes take time to appear on the map. For this reason, many times the map sends you on such a path, which has been closed in reality.
3. ‘Shortcut’ affair
Google’s algorithm always tries to find the smallest and faster way. In this effort, he sometimes shows a very narrow or tight street as a ‘shortcut’ instead of the main road. The algorithm does not understand whether it is worth going to the street car or not. This problem is the highest in old cities and densely populated areas.
4. Settings of your device
Sometimes mistake is not of maps, but of your phone. If the location settings of your phone are not on ‘High Acuracy’, the compass is not calibrated or the internet connection is weak, the map is still not able to function properly.
