Gujarat leads in TB treatment, 95% of NITI Aayog’s target

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared the goal of making India TB free by 2025 and Gujarat has made significant progress in this direction. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state had targeted the identification and registration of 1,45,000 TB patients in 2024, out of which 1,37,929 patients were identified and registered. Additionally, 1,24,581 patients successfully completed treatment, resulting in the treatment perfection rate of 90.52%.

Increase in financial assistance under the Nutrition Scheme

The Government of Gujarat is providing financial assistance of Rs 500 per patient under the Favor Nutrition Scheme to ensure regular treatment of TB patients. In the year 2024, 1,18,984 patients were provided assistance of Rs 43.9 crore under this scheme. It is noteworthy that the Central Government has increased the amount of this assistance to Rs 1000 from 1 November 2024.

Cooperation of Division Friends, Distribution of 3.49 lakh Nutrition Kits

As part of the Prime Minister’s TB -free India campaign, Gujarat registered 10,682 Mudhaya Mitras on the postal portal and distributed 3,49,534 nutrition kits through them. This remedy ensures that TB patients get drugs as well as nutrition, due to which Gujarat has become the best performing state in the country in this region.

100 -day intensive TB eradication campaign

Gujarat has made significant progress by incorporating 16 districts and 4 municipalities in the “100 -day intensive TB eradication campaign” launched by the Government of India on 7 December 2024. By 20 March 2025, 35.75 lakh people were tested for TB, in which 16,758 new patients were identified and their treatment was started.

Agreement with Lions Club, increase in nutrition aid

The Gujarat government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Lions Club International on 6 March 2025, under which TB patients will be provided nutritional assistance through adoption. This initiative is expected to improve the health of patients rapidly. Thus, Gujarat is playing an important role in achieving the national goal of TB eradication.
