There is big news for those traveling between Gurugram and Delhi. A major decision has been taken regarding laying the metro network in the city, which may change the entire map of the metro in the coming time. Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has decided to conduct a survey for two new metro routes – Yashobhoomi to IFFCO Chowk and Rejangla Chowk to Dwarka. Only after this survey will it be decided on which of these two routes the metro will run.
Who will win in the race between the two routes?
At present, there are two options before the government and only one has to be chosen. For this, a company will be selected next month which will study which route will have more number of passengers and which route will prove to be more beneficial for the people.
First option: Yashobhoomi to IFFCO Chowk (new plan)
Delhi Metro (DMRC) has given a new proposal to the Haryana government to directly connect Yashobhoomi (India International Convention Centre) on Dwarka Expressway to IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram.
- way: This metro line will pass through areas like Bharthal, Bijwasan, Carterpuri and Sector-23 and reach IFFCO Chowk station on Delhi-Jaipur Highway.
- Benefit: With this, Dwarka Expressway and surrounding new sectors will have direct connectivity with the Yellow Line.
If this new route gets the green signal, the already proposed Rejangla Chowk metro project will be cancelled.
Second option: Rejangla Chowk to Dwarka (old plan)
This project is three years old and its full report (DPR) is also ready.
- Cost: It was estimated to cost around ₹1892 crore.
- station: A total of 7 stations were to be built in this, out of which 4 would be in Gurugram (Palam Vihar, Chauma, Sector-110A, Sector-111) and 3 in Delhi (Sector-28, IICC, Dwarka Sector-21).
Now the future of this entire project depends on the report of the survey to be held next month. Only after the report comes, it will be clear which new metro line will be the gift to the people of Gurugram.
