News India Live, Digital Desk: Keeping dried basil in the house is considered an obstacle to progress and a symbol of negative energy. But throwing it in ordinary garbage or at an inappropriate place is a huge sin and an insult to Goddess Lakshmi. According to the scriptures, there is a certain method of Tulsi immersion by adopting which you can avoid the defects.
Main rules of Tulsi Visarjan (Tulsi Visarjan Rules)
Selection of day (Important Days): Tulsi plant should never be touched or immersed on Sunday, Ekadashi, Dwadashi or solar/lunar eclipse. Thursday or Friday is considered the best day for immersion as these days are dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Mother Lakshmi.
Bathing and purification: Before removing the basil plant, take a bath yourself and wear clean clothes. Before immersion, light a ghee lamp near the plant and apologize for your mistakes.
Immersion with root: Remove the dried basil from the pot very carefully. Be careful that its roots do not scatter here and there. According to the scriptures, all parts of Tulsi (root, stem, leaves) are sacred.
Water immersion or ground immersion: The best method is to float dry basil in a holy river or pure flowing water. If you do not have a river, you can dig a deep pit in the soil of the pot and bury it so that it becomes compost and no one steps on it.
Time to plant a new plant: Immediately after immersing the old Tulsi, a new Tulsi plant should be planted in the same pot or in a new pot. The Tulsi platform of the house should never remain empty.
Vastu and religious significance
Dry basil indicates worsening of the position of planet Mercury or absorbing some major calamity at home. Immersing it in the right manner maintains happiness and peace in the house and also reduces ancestral defects.
