News India Live, Digital Desk: As much as the winter season seems pleasant—the morning sun, peanuts and ginger tea—it also turns out to be a disaster for our hair. Humidity in the air decreases, and the result? Our silky hair becomes completely dry & frizzy. If you comb your hair, it breaks, and if you leave it open, it gets tangled.
Often we buy expensive conditioners or serums after seeing advertisements on TV, but to tell the truth? The real magic is not hidden in any bottle, but in your habits and kitchen.
Today we will tell you very simple and tried methods which will keep your hair soft and shiny even in this harsh winter.
1. Avoid very hot water
We know that bathing with hot water in winter is a different pleasure. But boiling water is no less than an enemy for hair. Hot water strips away the natural oil from the scalp, causing hair to become weak from the roots and dandruff to occur.
Advice: Always wash hair with lukewarm water. This will clean the hair and also keep its moisture intact.
2. Don’t miss Champi (The Power of Oiling)
Do you remember in your childhood how your mother or grandmother used to apply oil on Sunday and make champi? We have forgotten that in the name of fashion. Massage your head at least twice a week with lukewarm coconut oil, almond or olive oil. This is hair’s food, don’t starve it. Massage increases blood circulation and brings life to the hair.
3. Conditioner is important, but the right one (Conditioning)
Do not leave hair like that after shampoo. But if you want to avoid chemical conditioners, then use household items.
- Aloe Vera Gel: This is a natural conditioner. Apply it 15 minutes before washing.
- Curd and Honey: Curd and honey mask is no less than a magical cream for dry hair. This gives that shine to the hair which cannot be achieved even by parlor treatment.
4. Be gentle with wet hair
After washing our hair in winter, we often rub it vigorously with a towel so that it dries quickly. This is the biggest mistake! Wet hair is very delicate. Dry them by pressing them gently with a towel. And yes, use the hair dryer as little as possible, its hot air ‘burns’ the hair. Natural air drying is best.
5. Nourish from within too
Just applying oil superficially will not work. In winter, we reduce water intake, due to which both body and hair become dehydrated. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and include green vegetables, amla and almonds in your diet.
So, don’t let your hair become ‘lifeless’ this winter. A little extra care, and your hair is ready to rock!
