News India Live, Digital Desk: Heavy rains wreak havoc in northeast: Heavy rains in states like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur of Northeast India have disturbed life. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has tweeted a video of a person in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, who is crossing the bridge over the reservoir. The minister asked the person to be careful and said that the government will provide all possible help to Arunachal Pradesh affected by rain.

House damaged in Manipur

The northeastern state of Manipur is in the grip of flood due to monsoon. The rivers are in spate and the embankments are broken. Officials said about 19,000 people have been affected by floods in the state. He said that at least 3,365 houses have been damaged due to continuous torrential rains for the last four days.

The government has opened 31 relief camps in the Imphal East, where people were expelled from their homes. The most affected districts of floods in the state are Hengang, Wangkhai and Khurai assembly constituencies. Apart from this, the commander district is also immersed in flood water. According to a PTI report, there have been 47 landslides in the state in the last 4 days.

There have been reports of waterlogging in many areas of the state capital Imphal. In the Chekon area, there was waterlogging in the offices, health facilities and the premises of All India Radio after the Imphal River was in spate. The patients had to be taken to other hospitals after water entered the premises of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical Sciences Institute operated by the state.

Local people are helping NDRF and SDRF personnel in rescue and relief operations.

10 people died due to floods in Assam

At least 10 people have died due to floods in Assam. Five of these died due to landslides in Guwahati. A total of 4 lakh people are in flood in 20 districts of the state. The rivers of the state are in spate and the situation may worsen due to continuous rains in the northeastern state.

Road, railway and boat services have been affected in various parts of the state. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday spoke to the Assam CM over phone and took stock of the state’s situation.

Many areas of Guwahati have been flooded and traffic has been affected. The state administration said that distributing relief materials is the highest priority of the department and priority is being given to items like mosquito -fasting medicines, candles, sanitary napkins and infant food for mosquito -fasting distribution in areas affected by waterlogging and power cuts.
