News India Live, Digital Desk: Bihar Cyber Crime: Cyber criminals sitting in Bihar are now not only the people of the country, but are sitting in different corners of the world and laying their nets. A major investigation by the Economic Offenses Unit (EO) has revealed the shocking that about 1 million Gmail accounts being used by Bihar’s cyber thugs are connections with countries such as Nepal, Mexico and even war -torn Ukraine.
This was revealed when EOU initiated a major action against mobile SIM cards taken on fake documents under “Operation Clean Sweep”. During the investigation, when the Gmail accounts related to these SIM cards were investigated, the investigating officer was also surprised.
How does this international network work?
Investigation has revealed that cyber criminals are working in a very vicious manner.
- Use of foreign sim: They use foreign mobile numbers to create Gmail and other social media accounts. These numbers are from countries like Nepal, Mexico and Ukraine. This makes it almost impossible for the investigating agencies to reach the real source of these accounts.
- Easy to hide identity: Their identity is hidden by using foreign numbers. If there is an account block, then they easily create a new account from another foreign number.
- Fake Indian documents: Investigation has also revealed that a large number of fake Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and other documents have also been found from cyber thugs. They prepare hundreds of fake documents by using the same photo and only to change the name, which they use to buy SIM cards and open a bank account.
What is Eou’s “Operation Clean Sweep”?
This special campaign of EOU is being run to prevent online fraud being done through fake SIM cards. Under this operation, EOU has so far blocked thousands of fake SIM cards and has taken many cyber criminals behind bars.
After this international connection surfaced, the scope of investigation has increased even more. Eou is now investigating from where and how these criminals are getting foreign SIM cards and mobile numbers. This case is no longer limited to cyber fraud, but it has also become a serious issue related to national security.
