How to choose the best health insurance? Do not make these mistakes while buying a policy

[ad_1]

1. Choose a policy limit without room rental

If your policy is set for room fare, then in case of hospitalization, you will have to bear more expenses than the specified limit. So choose a policy that does not have any limit to room rent.

2. Choose no-co-comment policy

Cooperation means that you have to give a certain portion of the total cost of treatment yourself, such as 80% will be given by the insurance company in 80:20 and you will have to give 20%. In such a situation, the ‘No Co-payment’ policy is better.

3. Avoid sub-limits

Some insurance companies also determine the maximum claim limit (sub-limit) for some diseases within the insurance amount. For example, a maximum of Rs 2 lakh can be claimed for the treatment of cancer. To avoid this, choose ‘No Sub-Limit’ policy.

4. Check PPE and other medical cover

Things like PPE kit, syringe, nursing fee are up to 5-10% of the total hospital bill. Therefore, make sure that these expenses are included in your policy.

5. Restore should be benefited

If your policy cover is Rs 10 lakh and you have claimed the entire amount, then you should take a cover of Rs 10 lakh again for any other disease in the same year. This is called ‘restoration of profit’.

6. Choose a low waiting period policy

Many health insurance policies have a waiting period for some diseases, meaning that you cannot claim during that period. In such a situation, ensure that the waiting period does not exceed 2-3 years.

7. Take advantage of no claim bonus

If you do not claim health insurance for a year, many companies provide you ‘no claim bonus’, making your cover up to 50% or 2 times the original cover.

8. Cover before hospitalization and after hospitalization

Medical expenses occur before and after hospitalization. Therefore, make sure that your policy covers the expenses before and after being hospitalized for at least 60 days.
