How to prepare for the fast of the first Monday of Shravan, know about it

The Mondays that come in Sawan have special significance. This year the month of Sawan is starting from 22 July 2024 and the first Monday of Sawan will also fall on this day. There is a tradition of fasting and worshiping Lord Shiva on this day.

On Monday of the month of Sawan, wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear clean clothes. After this, you can go to the temple or home and worship Lord Shiva. To perform Abhishek on Shivling, you will need ingredients like water, milk, Ganga water, honey, curd and ghee.

The Lord is pleased by anointing the Shivlinga in the month of Saavan. According to the Shiv Purana, Shiva himself is water. The importance of offering water to Lord Shiva is found in the story of Samudra Manthan.

After drinking the Halahal poison, Lord Shiva's throat turned blue, which was similar to the fire that came out of the churning of the ocean. Then all the gods offered water to him to cool down the cold and heat of the poison. That is why water is offered in every worship of Lord Shiva.

After this, offer Belpatra, Dhatura and Bhasma on Shivling. Then worship God by lighting incense sticks and lamps. Keep a fast on this day. You can keep a fast on Sawan Monday and eat fruits.
