News India Live, Digital Desk: Steel Tycoon Ln Mittal was Shocked: One of the world’s largest steel veterans, LN Mittal, who is the chairman of Arcelromittal, has shared an interesting anecdote of his first meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting took place in New York in 1998, and Mittal was greatly impressed by Modi’s visionary ideas and global perspectives, while Modi was not even the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
That special meeting in New York of 1998:
LN Mittal said that the meeting took place in a hotel room. Modi, who was working for the organization in Gujarat at that time and was not in any position, was on a visit to America. Mittal talked to him for about an hour and then he realized that Modi had a wonderful vision to do something big for the country and society.
Mittal said, “I met Modi ji in a hotel room in New York in 1998. We used to work in different areas. I was in New York, and Modi ji was working in the organization from Gujarat. More than an hour we spoke and at the same time I came to know about their way of thinking.”
Mittal was surprised to see that Modi used to have such a big and clear vision about the future and development of the country, despite not holding any big government post at that time. He described this meeting as an ‘eye -opening experience’.
The country’s landscape changed in 20 years:
Mittal also talked about the emphasis on ‘self -sufficient India’ by Prime Minister Modi in 2021. He remembered that it seemed almost impossible to build a steel plant in India 20 years ago, but it is now possible due to ‘self -sufficient India’ and the changed industrial policies of the country.
The Modi government has focused on promoting domestic manufacturing and strengthening initiatives like ‘Make in India’ in the last 10 years. This has not only attracted foreign companies for investment in India, but has also changed a lot in the country’s economy. LN Mittal’s statement reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s early ‘Vision’ and the deep impression of his leadership, which has given the country a new identity on the global stage.
