News India Live, Digital Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a big step to remove the dark clouds looming over the T20 World Cup 2026 clash between India and Pakistan. According to sources, ICC has appointed the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Mohsin Naqvi Such a ‘face-saving’ solution has been proposed, due to which Pakistan will not have to accept ‘defeat’ in front of its people and the match of 15th February will also be completed.

What is ICC’s ‘face-saving’ solution?

The ICC understands that Pakistan has boycotted the match against India in the name of showing ‘solidarity with Bangladesh’. In such a situation, it would be politically difficult for the PCB to withdraw directly. ICC’s new formula could be something like this:

Excuse of ‘security assurance’: The ICC will submit an official security report to Pakistan, in which Colombo will be declared completely safe. The PCB may then issue a statement that “following strict security assurances from the global body (ICC), they are prepared to play the match in the interest of the game.”

Guarantee on future hosting: According to reports, the ICC is considering giving written assurances to Pakistan on the rights and security of hosting future ICC tournaments (such as financial compensation for the 2025 Champions Trophy or the 2031 World Cup).

Financial Relief: If Pakistan plays the match, ICC may hint at giving them some additional incentive in addition to the ‘Participation Fee’, which will be named ‘Cricket Development Fund’.

Heavy pressure on Mohsin Naqvi

PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi is in double trouble at the moment:

Government pressure: At present the Pakistan government has kept its stance strict on boycott.

Fear of financial loss: ICC has made it clear that if Pakistan does not play, then there will be a huge cut in the funds (Revenue Share) it gets, which will be fatal for the PCB which is already facing financial crisis.

ICC fully hopeful of ‘U-turn’

A senior ICC official said on condition of anonymity, “We are in constant touch with Mohsin Naqvi. He is a smart administrator and knows that a boycott on a stage like the World Cup will only harm Pakistan. We are hopeful that by February 12, the situation will be cleared and the Pakistan team will fly to Colombo.”

Match Status (Current Status)

India: Team India has reached Colombo and started the practice session.

stamp: Tickets for the match on February 15 have already been ‘sold out’.

Broadcasters: Advertisers have put pressure on the ICC to ensure this match at all costs, as it accounts for approximately 30% of the entire tournament’s revenue.
