News India Live, Digital Desk: India’s fast bowler and top all -rounder Ravindra jadeja And England’s top batsman Joe Root has retained his top position in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday. After scoring 34 runs in England’s only Test against Zimbabwe in Nottingham, Root maintained his grip on the number position with 888 rating points. But his partner Harry Brook, playing an innings of 58 runs in the same match, reduced the difference by 15 points.
Ken Williamson of New Zealand (867), India’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (847) and Australia veteran Steve Smith (823) all remain very close to each other as a new World Test Championship Chakra is starting in June.
India has to visit England for the five -match Test series starting on 20 June. Prior to that important series, England’s batting trio Ben Docket, Oli Pope and Jack Crolye made a big jump in the ranking after scoring a century against Zimbabwe.
Docket jumped two places to 13th position, the Pope jumped at six places to reach 22nd position and the Crole jumped eight places to joint 33rd.
Bumrah has 908 points in the bowling list and is ahead of South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (837), Australian Pat Cummins (824), Josh Hazlewood (818) and Nathan Leone (812).
England fast bowler Gas Atkinson scored three wickets in England’s innings and 45 runs against Zimbabwe, leading to one place to 13th position, while his team fellow spinner Shoaib Bashir took nine wickets in the same match, which has reached the joint 43rd position to climb up 14 places.
Atkinson has also moved to seventh position in the list of Test all -rounders with improvement of one place, with Ravindra Jadeja (400 points) at the top. Bangladesh’s Mehdi Hasan Miraj is second with 327 points, while Marco Jenson (294) of South Africa is in second place.
Hardik Pandya remains the top T20 Eye all -rounder with 252 points, ahead of Australia’s Marcus Stoinis (210) and England’s Liam Livingstone (209).
In ODIs, India’s new Test captain Shubman Gill is at the top with 784 points, beyond that Pakistan’s Babar Azam (766), India’s 50 -over captain Rohit Sharma (756), South Africa’s Heinrich Klassen (744) and Virat Kohli (736).
