News India Live, Digital Desk: The weather has suddenly taken a turn in Uttar Pradesh and cold has started showing its effect. The icy winds that have been blowing for the last few days have neutralized even the mild sunlight during the day, due to which people are feeling shivering even during the day. The Meteorological Department (IMD) says that this is just the beginning, the cold is going to be even more torturous in the coming days.
Why has it suddenly become so cold?
According to meteorologists, the effect of snowfall in the mountains is now visible in the plains. Cold and dry winds coming from the north-west are directly reaching Uttar Pradesh, due to which the temperature has dropped rapidly. Due to these winds, there is a huge difference in the temperature between day and night. Even though the sun is shining during the day, the coldness in the air is not allowing people to take respite.
How will the weather be in future?
The forecast issued by the Meteorological Department for the next 48 to 72 hours is not going to provide relief.
- Temperature will fall, cold will increase: In most parts of the state, the minimum temperature may fall further by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. This means that the nights are going to get even colder.
- Cold wave alert: There is also a possibility of cold wave in some areas of western Uttar Pradesh in the next two days. Cold wave is declared when the minimum temperature drops much below normal.
- Fog havoc: Dense fog in the morning can also be troublesome, especially on highways and open areas. This may cause brakes on the speed of vehicles and affect traffic.
The effect of cold is maximum in these districts
According to the Meteorological Department, the impact of cold will be most visible in the districts of western UP like Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Meerut, Bareilly and Shahjahanpur. A sharp drop in temperature will also be recorded in Lucknow and surrounding areas.
What to do to protect yourself from cold?
It is very important to take care of health in this changing season. Doctors advise to wear warm clothes to avoid cold, especially in the morning and evening, and keep the head, ears and neck covered while going out. Include hot things in your diet and avoid cold things. Special care needs to be taken of small children and the elderly.
So, the next time you step out of the house, do not make the mistake of taking the cold lightly and be fully prepared.
