Tel Aviv: The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) claimed to have killed Bashar Thabete, an important commander of Hamas in Gaza Strip on Monday, July 21, 2025. According to IDF, Thabet, who was the military commander of the Northern Gaza Strip adjacent to Israel, Hamas, was also acting as the head of the rocket force of the group. The IDF says that Thabeet was also active in the 2014 Gaza war and was involved in attacks against Israeli citizens. With this operation, IDF carried out air attacks by targeting 75 “terrorist hideouts” in Gaza. These included tunnels, military establishments and rocket launch sites used by terrorists. IDF tweeted that the purpose of these stripes was to respond to rockets left from Gaza towards Israel and weaken Hamas’s military capabilities. IDF said that from Sunday night, Gaza fired several rockets from Gaza to the southern and central regions of Israel, most of which were stopped by the iron dome defense system. However, some rockets also fell, causing a minor loss to the property, but no casualties. The IDF said that the military action will continue until the safety of the citizens of Israel is ensured. Gaza’s Health Ministry has confirmed that information about the casualties in the IDF attacks is being collected. These airstrikes have increased tension in the area.
