The first symptoms of many problems occurring in our body appear in our feet. If these symptoms are recognized in time, the problem can be prevented from worsening. Let us know which small changes occurring in the feet should not be ignored.

Swelling of ankles is not caused only by standing or walking for a long time. It can also be a sign of water accumulation in the body, kidney problem, heart disease or liver problem. When the heart can’t pump properly or the kidneys can’t filter blood properly, fluid accumulates in the body, causing swelling in the ankles and feet. If you see this swelling, consult a doctor immediately.

Cold feet – Persistent cold feet can be a sign of blood circulation problems. Conditions such as blocked arteries, anemia, thyroid problems or diabetes can affect blood flow in the legs. Due to impaired blood flow, feet may become cold and skin color may change.

Pain in the legs, especially the calves, when walking, called claudication, may be a sign of peripheral artery disease. This condition occurs when the arteries in the legs become narrow or blocked, preventing the muscles from getting enough oxygen. This pain usually goes away with rest, but comes back when you move again. This is also a major sign of heart disease.

If one leg is hotter, redder, and swollen than the other, it may be a sign of deep vein thrombosis. This is a serious condition in which a clot forms in the veins. This clot can break and reach the lungs, which can lead to a life-threatening condition. If you see these symptoms, contact a doctor immediately.

Foot wounds that do not heal over time, especially in people with diabetes, may be a sign of a serious problem. Diabetic Neuropathy reduces sensitivity in the feet and wounds do not heal properly due to poor blood flow. These wounds can become infected.
