The Supreme Court said that the standards of strong, strong understanding should be used. Not on the standards of those who are weak and see everything as danger or criticism. If the police fail to protect fundamental rights, it is the duty of the courts to intervene and protect the rights. Ideas should be respected and protected. Freedom of expression of thoughts and perceptions is important.

What were the allegations?

A case has been registered against Imran Pratapgarhi in Jamnagar, Gujarat for posting a video edited with inflammatory songs. Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi has claimed that the Gujarat Police has registered an FIR against him with malicious intentions. The FIR alleges that the 46 -second video clip uploaded by Imran Pratapgarhi on the social media platform X was showing flowers on him and a song was playing in the background. That song is objectionable. It was alleged that the lyrics of the song were inflammatory, harmful to national unity and hurting religious sentiments.

‘Even if you don’t like ideas…’

The Supreme Court has said in its judgment that even though many people dislike the views of others, a person’s right to express his views should be respected and preserved. Literature, including poetry, drama, film, satire and art, makes people’s lives more meaningful.
