How will the end of the world: Imagine that no child will be born in any country from today. Suddenly, the whole world will go into ‘zero birth’ mode. In such a situation, how many years will human civilization live? According to scientists, there is a simple answer to it. Human existence can end in about 100 years. But the actual destruction will begin long before that.
First 10-20 years: Everything gradually gets worse
There will be not much difference in the beginning. People will go to work every day, children will go to school, hospitals will be open. But as the children stop growing and the old people will start dying, the population of youth will start decreasing. The number of people working in the fields, the number of people running the machines in the factories, the number of doctors, engineers and cleaners will gradually decrease. Then the basic systems of the society will start to crumble.
After 30-50 years: The system starts collapsing
Without youth population, services like agriculture, healthcare and transport will collapse. There will be shortage of food grains, it will be difficult to get medicines and there will be shortage of clean water. That is, despite the population decreasing, resource management will be completely disturbed. No new technology will be developed, there will be no cure for diseases, and people will suffer from loneliness and chaos.
70-80 years: Start of End
Now humans will be able to live in very limited places. Some cities may be filled with old people, but will not be youths. There will be no difference of generations, but the entire generations will disappear. And then humans will become history, just as Neanderthal disappeared.
How can this happen?
This may look scary, but science does not completely deny it. There are some possible reasons for this:
>> A global epidemic that makes humans infertile (as the fictional writer Kurt Wongut described in ‘Galapagos’).
>> Atomic war that will destroy life on earth.
>> Demographic changes, people are choosing the option not to produce children.
The decline in birth rate has already started appearing.
Countries like Japan and South Korea are leading a worrying decline in birth rate. Even in India, people are producing fewer children, many people are not producing children at all. Even in the US, 36 lakh children will be born in 2024, while 20 years ago the number was 41 lakhs. At the same time, mortality is also increasing: 33 lakhs in 2022. If this trend continues and there is no migration, then the process of decline in the population will continue like this.
Young vs. Older: Social balance also deteriorates
Youth are the backbone of society. They bring new ideas, create technology and also take care of the elderly. If the youth are reduced, then the life of the elderly will also be in danger. After a while, there will be no one to take care of them, there will be no arrangement.
Human Existence: A Temporary Miracle?
Our ancestors, Homo Sepians, exist on Earth for about 2,00,000 years. But our relatives, Neanderthal, became extinct 40,000 years ago as they were unable to manage resources and lagged behind in fertility. If the trends of today’s birth and global climate change, wars and epidemics continue, then the extinction of humans is not a distant dream.
