News India Live, Digital Desk: A case of Taliban punishment in the name of social justice has come to light in a village under Balumath police station area of Latehar district of Jharkhand. The villagers here accused an elderly man of theft and treated him inhumanely. There has been a stir in the police department after the video of this incident went viral on social media.
What is the whole matter? (The Horrific Incident)
Blame: The villagers suspected that the elderly man was involved in some theft incident in the village.
Mob Justice: Without any legal process, the mob captured the elderly man and tied him to a tree.
Inhuman acts: The old man was first beaten with sticks and then, crossing all limits of humiliation, he was forced to drink urine. The victim kept begging for mercy, but the attackers had no reluctance.
Police Action
As soon as information about the incident was received, Balumath police started raids on the instructions of Latehar Superintendent of Police (SP):
Arrest: Till now the police including the main accused 5 people arrested Have done. A special team (SIT) has been formed to search for other absconding accused.
Currents: against the accused Indian Judicial Code (BNS) And a case has been registered under serious sections of SC/ST Act (if applicable).
Treatment of the victim: The elderly man has suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment, where his condition is now said to be stable.

Latehar Police has given a clear message that no one has the right to take law into their hands.
Don’t share the video: Police have appealed to the general public not to share the disturbing video of the incident as it violates the privacy of the victim and social harmony.
Social Media Monitoring: Police are also identifying those people who watched the incident as mute spectators or made a video of it but did not help.
