News India Live, Digital Desk: US President Donald Trump is known for his impeccable and often shocking style. Once again, he has said something similar about India, which has created a stir in the world of business and diplomacy. On the one hand, Trump has strongly defended his decision to impose a huge tariff (import duty) of 50% on goods coming from India, on the other hand, he is also saying that “our relations with India are very good.”

It seems a bit strange to hear, but this is Trump’s style. Let us understand what is the whole matter.

What is the reason for Trump’s resentment?

Donald Trump believes that the trade relationship between India and America has been “unilateral” for decades, which always benefited from India. They allege that India imposes the most tax on American goods in the world, while the US has “foolishly” to keep its markets open for Indian goods “foolishly”

To explain his point, he once again gave the example of American motorcycle company Harley-Davidson. He said, “Harley-Davidson could not sell his bikes in India, because there was a huge tariff of 200%. Finally the company had to set up a plant in India so that it did not have to pay this tax.”[3][5] To equalize this unilateral trade, Trump is calling the decision of his 50% tariff necessary.

“Friendship is good, but business was unilateral”

When asked if he would consider removing the tariff on India, Trump clearly said, “We meet India very well, but this relationship was one -sided for many years.” His statement clearly means that he is watching friendship and business separately. He argues that only after his arrival, an attempt to fix this imbalance has started.

Trump also claimed that now India has offered to zero its tariffs, but also said that now “is too late.

This entire development shows a strange in the business relations of India and America, where there is also talk of friendship and business strictness is also being shown. The time to come will tell which of the business of business between the two largest democracy of the world.
