News India Live, Digital Desk: Will the two biggest stars of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, be able to play the next ODI World Cup? This is a question which is revolving in the mind of every cricket fan. Both the players are at that stage of their career where discussions regarding age and fitness have intensified. Now in this debate, former Indian player and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir has also expressed his opinion. Gambhir believes that Rohit and Virat can definitely play the 2027 World Cup, but for this they will have to fulfill a very big condition. What did Gambhir say? Gautam Gambhir said in clear words that if these two players still have the motivation to play for the country, then they will have more time than when they were 25 years old. You will have to work twice as hard. He explained, “Age is just a number. If you have the ability to score runs, good fitness, and most importantly, the motivation to play, then no one can stop you.” Gambhir said that playing at the age of 38 or 39 is completely different from playing at the age of 25. Why do you have to work twice as hard? Explaining the logic behind this, Gambhir said that with increasing age, keeping the body fit becomes a big challenge. He said, “When you were 25, you had to work twice as hard, now at 38-39 you will have to work twice as hard. You will have to spend double the time in the gym, double your training and practice twice as much on the field.” Gambhir’s indication was clear that to meet the demands of international cricket at this age, talent alone is not enough, but extraordinary fitness and discipline will be required. Question – ‘Motivation’ Gambhir laid maximum emphasis on ‘Motivation’. He said that after playing cricket for so many years and achieving everything, do both of them still have the ‘hunger’ left to go through this hard work? Can they still motivate themselves to get up in the morning and sweat for hours in the gym? Finally, Gambhir said that if these two players keep scoring runs and keep their fitness at their peak, then no selector can drop them from the team. The ball is now completely in the court of Rohit and Virat. His future will be decided by his form, fitness and above all, his motivation.
