Inflation hits Pakistan’s people all round, prices skyrocket in October

News India Live, Digital Desk: Difficulties for the common man have increased further in Pakistan, which is already facing economic crisis. The inflation rate has increased to 6.2% in October 2025, which is the highest level this year. From food items to house rent and electricity, everything is becoming expensive, due to which it has become difficult for people to even manage two meals a day.

Flood and closed border spoiled the game

There are two main reasons behind this rampant inflation. First, the devastating floods in Punjab province, which caused massive damage to crops and disrupted supply chains. The second major reason is the closure of major trade routes like Torkham and Spin Boldak along with Afghanistan. Due to the closure of these routes, hundreds of trucks loaded with essential commodities like fruits and vegetables are stuck, due to which there is a shortage of goods in the market and the prices are skyrocketing.

The prices of which things increased the most?

According to the data, tomato prices have increased by a whopping 126.96%. Similarly, sugar has become costlier by 34.83% and wheat by 22.56%. Apart from food items, prices of things like clothes, shoes, and house rent have also increased.

The condition of the economy is also bad

Pakistan’s problem is not limited to inflation only. The country is going through a serious economic crisis. Due to unstable policies, heavy taxes and weak governance, foreign investors are staying away from the country. The country’s own industrialists are also taking their businesses to other countries, due to which the problem of unemployment, especially among the youth, has become even more serious. The World Bank has also reduced the estimate of Pakistan’s economic growth rate in view of the impact of floods.

Overall, Pakistan’s economy is in such a difficult phase, where on one hand inflation is breaking the back of the common man, while on the other hand challenges like floods and political instability are raising question marks on the future of the country.
