News India Live, Digital Desk: Royal Challengers Bangalore In his first year as captain, Rajat Patidar has acquired what none of the other six full -time captains could do. RCB, led by Patidar, won its first IPL title in 18 years. He lost in the final on the last three occasions, but in his fourth attempt, he was able to defeat Punjab Kings in his hands and take the trophy into his hands.
RCB on Tuesday Ahmedabad I defeated PBKS by six runs, batting first, he scored 190/9 and stopped his opponent at 184/7.
Talking about his journey as captain after winning 10 out of 13 matches under his leadership in the 2025 edition, Patidar said he is happy that he had the opportunity to lead a team like Virat Kohli.
Kohli led the RCB from 2011 to 2023, but could not take him to the championship, although he remained as effective as a batsman. With 657 runs, including eight fifties, he ended the 2025 campaign as his highest run -scorer.
Patidar said, “This is really special for me, Virat Kohli and for all fans. All those who have supported me for years are entitled to it. It is a great opportunity for me and captaining Kohli is a big learning for me, he deserves more than someone else.”
The right -handed batsman said that it was difficult to score 190 runs on the Motera tour. He appreciated the match’s best player Krunal Pandya (2/17) for his contribution to the PBKS.
“After the qualifier, we thought we could move forward. I think the 190 score on this track was good because it was a bit slow. The bowlers carried out their plans, which was fantastic to see.
He said, “Krunal is a wicket -taking bowler. Whenever we need a wicket, I look for him. Suyash (Sharma) and fast bowlers were good throughout the season. (Romo) Shepherd took the crucial wicket tonight.”
