News India Live, Digital Desk: Today Aadhar Card has become the most important document of our identity. Be it opening a bank account, getting a SIM card, or availing the benefits of any government scheme, Aadhaar is required everywhere. But do you know that if your Aadhar card is 10 years old or more, then a very important rule has changed for you?

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), an organization of the Government of India, which looks after the entire work of Aadhar Card, has implemented a new rule regarding this. If you do not pay attention to this, you may have to face problems in the future.

What is this new O?

According to the new rule of UIDAI, it has now become mandatory for those who had made their Aadhar card 10 years ago and have not updated it even once in these 10 years, to update their information.

If you understand in simple language, the government wants that you should ‘refresh’ your information in your Aadhar card once every 10 years, so that the information related to your identity and address in the database remains fresh and correct.

What updates do you need to get done?

In this update process you will have to update mainly two types of information:

  1. Demographic Details: This includes information like your name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number and email ID.
  2. Biometric Details: This includes your fingerprints, iris scan and your photograph.

Why is this update important?

  • Chance to correct mistakes: Many times, while making Aadhaar, there is a mistake in the name or address. You can get it fixed through this update.
  • Fraud Protection: Our fingerprints and facial features change with time. Updating biometric information ensures that no one can misuse your Aadhaar.
  • You will get full benefits of government schemes: Most of the government’s welfare schemes are now linked to Aadhaar. If your data is old or incorrect, you may face difficulty in getting the benefits of these schemes.

How and where will this update happen?

It is important to note that to get your biometric information (fingerprints, photo) updated, you have to visit your nearest Permanent Aadhaar Enrollment Center But we have to go. This work can be done online. However, you can update some information like address online also.

The government has also fixed a nominal fee for this work, by paying which you can easily get your information updated. So do not delay, if your Aadhar card is also 10 years old, then get it updated today itself.
