News India Live, Digital Desk: As soon as Saturday comes, only one question arises in the minds of children and parents – “Do you want to go to school tomorrow or is it a holiday?” And when Saturday is the second of the month, this confusion increases even more. So, let us clear your confusion and tell you whether your child’s school will be open or closed on 8th November 2025, i.e. this Saturday.

The good news for most children is that there will be a holiday in schools tomorrow. But there is not just one but many different reasons behind this.

Biggest reason – Second Saturday

As we all know, 8th November is the second Saturday of the month. In almost all the states of India, be it Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar or Haryana, most of the government and private schools have a rule of keeping the second Saturday of the month as a holiday. So according to this rule, there is every possibility that your child’s school will remain closed.

There is a special festival holiday in Karnataka

If you live in Karnataka, then there is double good news for you. The birth anniversary of saint poet Kanakdas ji is celebrated there on 8 November. It is a big and important day in Karnataka, so the state government has declared a public holiday on this day in all schools and government offices. So, schools will definitely remain closed in Karnataka.

Here the weather will decide whether there will be a holiday or not.

The decision of holiday for the people living in Tamil Nadu is in the hands of the weather. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain there in the month of November. In such a situation, if the rains are heavy, then keeping in mind the safety of the children, the local administration, i.e. the DM, can declare a holiday in schools. Therefore, parents of Tamil Nadu are advised to check the local news before sending them to school in the morning.

Is there any other holiday?

Some people may think that there is a holiday because of Devuthani Ekadashi or Kanak Ekadashi, but it is not so. Devuthani Ekadashi in 2025 is on 1st November, hence there is no holiday on 8th November.

So the overall point is that In most parts of the country, schools will remain closed due to ‘Second Saturday’, while in Karnataka there will be a holiday due to ‘Kanakadas Jayanti’. Schools can open normally in other places. For the most accurate information, it would be best to check your child’s school diary or school WhatsApp group once.
