Jail food or punishment? Big action by Jharkhand High Court, now raids can happen anytime without informing:

News India Live, Digital Desk: Often we see in films how the jail food is like water-like dal and stone-like roti. You and I move aside thinking that “Brother, the one who has committed a mistake will have to face punishment.” But does punishment mean that a person should not even get human food?

Jharkhand High Court has adopted such a tough stand on this issue, which has created a stir in the jail administration of the state. The court has clearly said that tampering with the food, drink and cleanliness of prisoners will no longer be tolerated.

There will be sudden ‘Surprise Checking’
The High Court has given a big and important order. Now “surprise inspection” will be conducted in jails. This simply means that the officers will no longer come by telling in advance that “we are coming, make everything right.” In fact, now the investigation team can be threatened at any time, any day.

They will go directly to the jail kitchens, check the ration, and see what is the quality of the food being served to the prisoners.

Why did the court have to intervene?
In fact, there have been complaints for a long time that the food given to prisoners in jails is neither nutritious nor in good condition. Only food is being supplied in the name of hygiene. Taking this seriously, the court has given this decision.

Not just filling the stomach, health is also important
The court believes that a person in jail is certainly a prisoner, but he is also a human being. He also has fundamental rights (Human Rights). Making them sick by feeding them dirty food cannot be a part of punishment. The court has given clear instructions that a team should be formed which will ensure from time to time that the quality of food is as per the set standards.

Officers’ heartbeats increased
After this order, the jail superintendents and the officers supervising the cooks are losing their sweat. They fear that if there is a sudden raid and ‘something black in the pulses’ is found, then direct action will be taken against them.

This decision is being considered a big step towards reform. It is hoped that now the people behind bars will be able to get clean and proper food at least twice a day.
