News India Live, Digital Desk: On this auspicious occasion of Janmashtami 2025, we remember the sacrifice and sufferings of the parents, which Lord Krishna himself was born here. We are talking about Devaki and Vasudev, whose life was full of many sufferings and tortures due to the cruel ruler of Mathura in the Dwapar Yuga. Devaki was the real sister of Kansa and Vasudev was the famous warrior of Mathura. He was married with great pomp in Mathura. After marriage, when Kansa was going to leave his sister Devaki’s house to Vasudev’s house, there was an AIR. This All India Radio surprised Kansa and said, “Hey fool Kansa, whom you are carrying so lovingly, the eighth child of the same Devaki will be the cause of your death.” On hearing this prediction, Kansa was filled with anger and he immediately lifted his sword to kill Devaki. Vasudev intervened and explained to Kansa that if the child is the reason for his death, there is no need to kill Devaki, because he will hand over all his children to Kansa as soon as he is born. Kansa agreed with Vasudev’s proposal, but put his sister Devaki and Vasudev in prison, where they were kept under harsh conditions. Seven children of Devaki and Vasudev were born in the car. As soon as every child was born, cruel Kansa would kill them without any kindness. One by one, the grief of losing seven children was unbearable for Devaki and Vasudev. Every time his heart used to rise in the hands of Kansa to Kansa, but he was forced. He did not lose his faith and patience even in this sorrow and pain. When the seventh son Balaram was about to be born from Devaki’s womb, Yogmaya took the child out of Devaki’s womb and transferred the child to Vasudev’s second wife Rohini’s womb. In this way, Balaram survived the wrath of Kansa. Either that auspicious time came when the eighth child of Devaki, Lord Shri Krishna was born. Krishna was born in the Nishith period, in a deep night, when there was dense darkness all around and the prison gates opened themselves, the guards fell asleep in deep sleep. According to the instructions of Lord Vishnu, Vasudev took the child Krishna in a soup and took him to Gokul, where Nand Baba and Yashoda Maiya became his foster parents. He replaced the newborn Krishna with Yashoda’s newborn girl and came back to prison. Kansa also attempted to kill this girl, but she was the goddess Yogmaya who left Kansa’s hands and told her that the cause of her death is alive and will soon kill her. Kansa was frightened to hear this, but he realized his destiny. Devaki and Vasudev did not get liberation from the prison until Shri Krishna grew up and killed Kansa. Krishna not only liberated his parents from Kansa’s captivity, but also gave Mathura freedom from his atrocities. His life shows that even in the most intense darkness and pain, patience, faith and righteousness ultimately gives victory. This festival of Janmashtami is not only a celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna, but is also a symbol of his parents’ immense sacrifice, perseverance and strong faith in divine justice.
