Congress and National Conference (NC) have formed an alliance for the assembly elections to be held in Jammu and Kashmir next month. NC chief and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah announced this on Thursday. The consensus was reached between the two parties during the visit of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Assembly elections are to be held in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir next month. Voting will be held in three phases. People will vote on September 18, September 25 and October 1. The result will be declared on October 4.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul addressed the workers in Srinagar. After which a press conference was also held. Talking about the alliance, the Leader of Opposition said that the alliance will happen, but it will be done while maintaining the respect of the workers of the Congress party.
After the press conference, Rahul Gandhi and Kharge went to meet NC leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah at his residence. There they also met Omar Abdullah. The alliance was announced in this meeting.
