Why first Lord Ganesha, then Mother Lakshmi?

Lord Ganesha is always worshiped first during Diwali puja. There is a very deep reason behind this. Lord Ganesha is considered the remover of obstacles, that is, he is the god who removes all obstacles and difficulties. By worshiping him before starting any auspicious work, that work gets completed smoothly. If we first please Lord Ganesha, then Goddess Lakshmi enters our house without any hindrance and resides there permanently. This shows the unbreakable relationship between wealth and intelligence.

Simple method and mantra of worship:

First of all, clean the place of worship thoroughly and sprinkle Ganga water. Spread red cloth on a post and install the idol or picture of Lord Ganesha and Mother Lakshmi. Set up a Kalash, in which add water, Ganga water, turmeric, coin, Akshat and flowers. Place mango leaves on the mouth of the Kalash and place coconut on it.

1. Worship of Lord Ganesha:
   First of all, bathe Lord Ganesha and offer clothes to him. Then offer flowers, incense, lamp, Durva, Modak and their favorite food.
   Basic mantra of Lord Ganesha:
   “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” or “Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samprabh. Nirvighnam Kuru Me Dev Sarvakaryeshu Sarvada.”
   (Chant these mantras at least 108 times, this removes all the obstacles coming in the way of worship.)
2. Worship of Goddess Lakshmi:
   Now bathe Goddess Lakshmi and dress her in red clothes. Offer her lotus flower (lotus flower is very dear to Mother Goddess), kumkum, akshat, perfume, incense, lamp and sweets (especially kheer or batashe) as per your devotion. After this, chant special mantras of Goddess Lakshmi.
   Effective mantras of Goddess Lakshmi:
   • To get money: “Om Shreem Hreem Shreem Kamle Kamlalaye Prasid Praseem Shreem Hreem Shreem Om Mahalakshmyai Namah.”
     (This Mahamantra is considered to shower wealth and grains.)
   • For stable Lakshmi (so that wealth lasts): “Om Hreem Shreem Kleem Mahalakshmi Mahalakshmi, all the good fortune is given to the body.”
     (This mantra is helpful in bringing permanent Lakshmi to the house.)
   • General Lakshmi Mantra: “Om Mahalakshmyai Namah.”

Some important things that will make your puja successful:

• Cleanliness and purity: Clean the entire house thoroughly before puja. Lakshmi ji does not like dirt.
• Lighting a lamp: Be sure to light ghee lamps, especially at the main entrance. Due to this, positive energy enters the house.
• Faith and belief: Most important is your true faith and devotion. Worship with a pure heart without any greed or deceit.
• Prasad Distribution: After the puja, be sure to distribute the Prasad among all the family members and neighbours.
