Just wearing a sweater will not stop the cold. If you are doing these mistakes at the dinner table, then it is certain that you will fall ill.

News India Live, Digital Desk: When winter season comes, it brings with it a lot of cravings. If a cool breeze is blowing and you have hot pakodas or halwa in your hand, then the day is made. We often think that everything gets digested in cold, eat a lot. But friends, the reality is a little different.

Our body’s system slows down a bit during the winter season. Our immunity has to work harder. In such a situation, if we eat wrong things, then problems like cold, cough and mucus take hold. Let’s talk directly about what things you need to learn to say ‘no’ to in this season.

1. Cold water and things from the fridge (this is a sin!)
We know it all, but still make mistakes. Many people have the habit of drinking cold water or cold drinks. It is the biggest enemy for the throat in winter. It not only hurts your throat but also disturbs the body temperature. Also avoid eating cold food kept in the refrigerator. Always eat food lukewarm, so that the body gets heat, not cold.

2. Curd and buttermilk: Good during the day, poisonous at night
Now you will say that curd is good for health. Of course it is, but not on a winter night. Curd has cooling effect and increases phlegm. If you already have difficulty in breathing or cough, then avoid eating curd, buttermilk or raita after the evening. If you have to eat during the day, then eat fresh curd, not the refrigerated one.

3. Too much sugar (control your sweet tooth)
As soon as winter arrives, Gajar Halwa and many other sweets are prepared in homes. But be careful! Excess sugar weakens our immunity. When we eat too much sweets, the body’s strength to fight diseases reduces, due to which we start falling ill more often. Therefore, use some jaggery instead of sugar for sweetness, which will provide warmth as well as health.

4. Fried Food
Winter and samosa-pakoda, the relationship is deep. But food containing too much oil and ghee is very difficult to digest in winter. In this season, our digestive system becomes a little slow. If you burden it with heavy food, the stomach will remain heavy and the body will remain sluggish. Enjoy, but in limited quantities.

5. Raw Salads
This may seem a bit surprising. Salad is very good in summer, but Ayurveda believes that eating too many raw vegetables in winter can cause gas and cold in the stomach. Try to lightly steam the vegetables or make soup and drink them. Hot soup soothes the body from within.

A little advice:
This is the season to eat and drink, do not starve yourself. Just be a little ‘smart’. Choose things that keep the body warm from inside, not cold. Make millet, jaggery, sesame, garlic and ginger your friends and drive away the cold.

Stay healthy, enjoy quilting and keep diseases away!
