News India Live, Digital Desk: of Ranchi Namkum Police Station On Thursday (5 March 2026), accused Jagai Munda committed suicide by hanging himself with a blanket cover in the police lockup. After the incident, there was panic in the police department and immediate action was taken against the culprits.

illicit relation: Accused Jagai Munda was in a relationship with a 32-year-old woman (mother of the child) from Khunti for the last 6 years.
Controversy and Threats: When the woman started maintaining distance from Jagai, he became angry. On March 1, he had threatened the woman that if she stopped meeting him, he would kill her son.
Kidnapping and murder: On March 2, Jagai kidnapped a 12-year-old boy, took him to the forests of Bhuiandih and strangled him to death.
Arrest: On March 3, on the complaint of the mother, the police arrested the accused and on his information the child’s body was recovered from the forest.

This case of custodial death has raised serious questions on the security system of the police. According to the rules of the Human Rights Commission (NHRC), judicial inquiry into such incidents is mandatory.
