Lucknow AQI today after Diwali : The excitement of Diwali is over, but it has left behind a cloud of poisonous air from which Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, has not been able to recover till now. The pollution that started with firecrackers on the night of Diwali is still present in the air of the city and is poisoning people’s breath.

The day after Diwali, Lucknow’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reached a dangerous level of 454, which falls in the ‘Severe’ category. However, there was a slight decline on Thursday, but the AQI remained at 242, which is still in the ‘Very Poor’ category and is extremely harmful for health.

No corner of Lucknow is left, air is bad everywhere

There is hardly any area of the city where the air has shown improvement.

  • Ashiana, Lalbagh, Indiranagar, Gomti Nagar, Charbagh, everywhere AQI remains above 250.
  • Even in areas like Vipul Khand, Talkatora, Nishatganj and Gautampalli, the air quality was found to be very poor.

Crowd of patients may increase in hospitals: Doctors warn

Health experts have issued a big warning regarding this poisonous air of the city. He says that if the air continues to be ‘very bad’ like this, then the risk of respiratory, lung and eye related diseases among people will increase manifold. Doctors fear that hospitals may soon see a huge increase in the number of patients suffering from respiratory problems.

The real danger will come now! cold will increase the problem

Meteorologists have expressed another big concern. He says that as the cold increases, the air will become even heavier. This will happen that the dangerous particles of pollution will remain trapped in the air and will not be able to go anywhere, due to which the smog layer will become even denser and poisonous.

At present, the maximum temperature in Lucknow remains around 34 degrees and minimum 22 degrees Celsius, but as soon as the mercury drops, the pollution crisis may worsen.

What is the administration doing?

Teams of Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board are continuously monitoring the city. Officials have appealed to people not to burn garbage or dry leaves, not to move vehicles unnecessarily and not to cut trees. A campaign has also been started in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation and the Traffic Police, but unless people themselves become aware, it is difficult to see the effect of these efforts.

Now the people of Lucknow either have to wait for the rain or get used to breathing this poisonous air, because this crisis is going to deepen with the cold.
