There was a massive collision between a passenger train (MEMU) going to Bilaspur from Gevra Road and a goods train. According to the information, the passenger train overshot the signal and hit the parked goods train, due to which this tragic accident occurred.
11 people lost their lives in the accident, more than 20 injured
So far, 11 people are reported to have lost their lives in this terrible collision, while more than 20 people are said to be injured. The injured were immediately admitted to nearby hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment. It is being told that the collision was so severe that the coaches of the passenger train derailed and were badly damaged.
Relief and rescue work continues
As soon as the news of the accident was received, the teams of Railway and District Administration immediately reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. NDRF teams are also present at the spot and are working to rescue the stranded passengers. People are being taken out by cutting the bogies with gas cutters. Officials say the death toll may increase.
Chief Minister expressed grief, announced compensation
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has expressed deep sorrow over this accident and has assured all possible help. Railways has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the deceased, Rs 5 lakh for the seriously injured and Rs 1 lakh for those with minor injuries.
A detailed inquiry will be conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) to investigate the cause of the accident so that such incidents can be prevented in future. This incident has once again raised serious questions on railway safety.
