If you live in these five states of India, then the next 24 hours can be careful for you! The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many states along with the monsoon. The southwest monsoon has now covered most parts of the country, due to which there is a possibility of heavy rains in states like Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
Which states will have the most impact?
According to the latest forecast of IMD:
-
Kerala and Karnataka: The monsoon has already knocked in these southern states and it is receiving heavy rains continuously. Torrential rains are expected to continue with strong winds and lightning shining here in the next 24 hours.
-
Goa and Maharashtra: Both these states located on the west coast are also directly vulnerable to monsoon. Orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in coastal Maharashtra (Konkan) and Goa. There may be problems in water logging and movement in low -lying areas.
-
Gujarat: The monsoon is also becoming active in Gujarat. There is a possibility of heavy rains in Saurashtra, Kutch and parts of South Gujarat.
Expected more rain than normal
IMD has estimated more monsoon rains across the country this year, which is a good news for farmers and agricultural economy. However, excessive rains may lead to situations like floods and landslides in some areas. Especially in hilly areas and urban areas, water logging can be created.
Security measures and advice:
-
Be sure to see the weather forecast before exiting.
-
Avoid water logging areas.
-
If you are planning to travel, then be cautious and take extra time.
-
Follow the advice of the administration when water stored in the fields or if the water level of rivers rises.
-
Stay away from open places to protect against lightning and strong winds.
This warning shows that the monsoon is moving forward with full force and everyone needs to be vigilant so that any untoward incident can be avoided.
