Dhamtari, 14 October (Hindustan Reporter). Megha bridge has been damaged since September 21. Traffic through Megha Mahanadi bridge has been completely stopped. This has increased the problems of the people of the area. Two-wheeler and foot travel is taking place through the water storage anicut built by the Water Resources Department near the Mahanadi Bridge. There is danger from this. Traffic has stopped due to the breakage of Megha Mahanadi bridge. Traffic in more than 100 villages is being affected due to the damage to the Megha bridge. The residents of the area have demanded to make an easy alternative route.

The process of construction of a new bridge on the upper part of the damaged Mahanadi bridge has been completed. The formality of measuring the depth of sand and soil in the river has been completed by digging a bore in the river. The new bridge construction phase and completion is likely to take a long time, at least four to five years. There is an urgent need to restore movement of all types of vehicles by building permanent alternative routes. Thousands of people travel through the said route from morning till late night.

It has become expensive for the people of Magarlod area to travel to Kurud, Dhamtari, Raipur, Durg, Bhilai and other places. To go from Magarlod to Kurud via Badi Kareli, Khatti, Nari route, four times the time and money is being spent. Apart from this, the roads inside Badikareli and Nari Basti have become dilapidated. One kilometer long Aniket made without security circle, traveling in the evening through rough and bumpy road full of boulders and stones in Aniket is like risking one's life. Residents of Magarlod area said that the bridge should be built soon, causing problems: Maha Trader. Sangh Magarlod President Dinesh Aggarwal said that the traffic has been disrupted due to the collapse of the Megha bridge. In Magarlod, commercial goods used to come from Raipur, Dhamtari, Kurud via Megha bridge, but due to the breakdown of the bridge, one has to travel via Kareli Badi, Khatti, Nari, due to which the fare is higher. Material is not arriving in time, due to which the business of the Magarlod trader is being affected.

Nandini Sahu said that due to the breakage of Megha bridge, the people of the area are facing a lot of problems. The distance to the destination has increased. It is having a huge impact on people's lives. The road should be built as soon as possible, so that people can get relief. Megha Sarpanch Shankar Sahu said that a demand letter has been given to the government administration to make an alternative route. The government and administration are not taking interest in creating an alternative route by ignoring the problems of the people. An alternative route should be made soon. LIC agent Lekhnarayan Sahu said that due to the breakdown of Megha bridge, one has to face a lot of difficulty in going to the district headquarters Dhamtari, Kurud. The alternative route has to pass through anicut, due to which there is a possibility of an accident. Auto driver Buturam Sahu, resident of village Megha, said that he used to earn his living for himself and his family by taking passengers from Magarlod, Megha to Kurud and students in his auto, but due to the damage to the Megha bridge, his business has come to a standstill.
