Demonstration at Jantar Mantar against Waqf Bill Amendment , Under the banner of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Chairman of various Muslim organizations, MPs and senior leaders of political parties have started reaching Jantar Mantar in protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill. Meanwhile, giants like Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madni, Congress leaders Salman Khurshid, Imran Masood and Asaduddin Owaisi have reached Jantar Mantar.
What is being opposed?
Reacting to AIMPLB’s opposition to the Waqf Joint Parliamentary Committee Chairman and BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said, “Protests at Jantar Mantar are motivated by politics.” This protest is being done in a planned manner, which is due to political tussle. The opposition is doing politics of appeasement. He asked the question to AIMPLB, “What is this protest?” We have presented a 428 page report. He has not read the report. It is not appropriate to question the matter of the collector.
This bill is for poor Muslims.
Jagdambika Pal claimed that this bill is for poor Muslims and marginalized Muslims. When the meeting was being held, the people of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board were also called, all the parties were involved, yet it is not appropriate to protest. Politics is happening on this issue. Confusion is being created about this law. The people of the country are being misled. Country and state are ruled by law. Even at the time of 370, blood rivers were said to flow, but nothing happened in Jammu and Kashmir. Even during three divorces, there was a protest at Jantar Mantar. Just as earlier reforms were made for the good of the country, similarly Waqf is also being done for the good of the country.

If the demand is not met, we will protest.
Prior to the protest, All India Muslim Personal Law Board said, ‘AIMPLB as well as many other Muslim organizations are participating in this protest. A message will be given through Jantar Mantar that if the demand is not met, we will protest. Representatives from various states involved in the protest say that this land belongs to our ancestors. This bill is attacking houses, lands and mosques. This is a black law. We will not let this happen. If there is any fraud, the government should investigate it. People of other religions should also be included in this law.
The board further said about this, “Magistrates will be given more powers, this law is against our rights.” Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, All India Muslim Personal Law Board and representatives of opposition parties will participate in the protests at Jantar Mantar. Members of JPC have also been invited to join the demonstration.
The protest was to take place on 13 March.
A few days ago, AIMPLB announced that it would protest against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill at Jantar Mantar on March 17 to awaken the conscience of secular political parties including the NDA government. Earlier these protests were scheduled to take place on 13 March, but it was postponed due to the festival of Holi.
