Heavy rains are falling in many districts of Maharashtra. Due to rains in Nashik, the Godavari river has flooded. Most of the temples built near Ramkund in Nashik are submerged in water.
Due to continuous rains in Maharashtra's Nashik district, the Godavari river is in spate. The temples built on the banks of Ramkund are completely submerged in water. The local administration has appealed to the general public not to go to the banks of the Godavari river.
Many temples of Ramkund got submerged in water
It has been raining continuously for the last three days in Nashik city and the surrounding districts. About 8500 cusecs of water is being released from Gangapur dam since Sunday. Due to which the water level of Godavari river has increased. Many temples of Ramkund have been submerged in water.
Villagers were cautioned to remain alert
Water is being released from various dams including Gangapur Dam. Water is being released at the rate of 13,000 cusecs from below Holkar Bridge in Nashik. Villages along the river have been warned to remain alert.
Dutondya Maruti's coronation too
It is raining continuously in the catchment area of Nashik. The water has reached the chest of Dutondya Maruti (Hanumanji's idol), which is considered to be the flood gauge of Nashik.
Heavy rain in Ratnagiri and Palghar
Heavy rains are lashing many districts of Maharashtra. Harnai in Ratnagiri and Dahanu in Palghar received 116 mm and 143 mm rainfall. In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar received 43 mm and Nanded and Parbhani received 48 mm and 55 mm rainfall respectively.
Rain warning in these districts
An orange alert has been issued for Pune, Satara, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur and Gondia districts of Maharashtra. A yellow alert has been issued for several districts of Western Maharashtra and Marathwada.
