The discussions going on for many days regarding seat sharing in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have now reached the final stage. LJP (Ram Vilas) President and youth leader Chirag Paswan himself has indicated that he is in ‘respectful talks’ with BJP and a big announcement can be made soon regarding seat distribution.

Speaking to the media recently, Chirag Paswan said, “Our respectful talks are going on with the Bharatiya Janata Party. We are in alliance and I am confident that soon a positive and respectable agreement will be reached regarding seat sharing.” It is clear from his statement that LJP (Ram Vilas) will remain a part of NDA and will contest the upcoming elections along with BJP.
Why is this agreement important?
Caste equations and coalition politics matter a lot in Bihar. Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) is considered to have a significant influence on Dalit and Paswan votes. In such a situation, it is very important for BJP to retain Chirag and give him respectable seats, so that he can give a strong competition to the Grand Alliance. With this agreement, NDA is expected to get a strong base in Bihar.
