The NIA has taken strict action against the Islamic State (ISIS) module and raided 16 locations. This investigation is going on against the module, which is motivating the youth towards radical ideology. Efforts are being made to recruit the youth of Kerala and Tamil Nadu especially in the Islamic State. In the last few years, about 20 youngsters had gone to Syria and Iraq to join the Islamic State. The NIA raid is being conducted to examine the links related to the Islamic State as well as other foreign terrorist organizations.

According to sources, these raids are being done in many places including Chennai and Mayiladuthurai. NIA teams are still running a search operation. The agency arrested two suspects on 25 January, who were associated with the banned organization PFI and are accused of involvement in the murder of PMK leader V. Ramalingam. V. Ramalingam was murdered in 2019, and was seen as a communal incident. As the investigation proceeded, the name of PFI i.e. Popular Front of India came up in this case.
