BJP leader Mahachandra Singh has been made the chairman of the commission and JDU leader Rajiv Ranjan Prasad has been made the vice president. A day before this, JDU leader Ghulam Rasool was made the chairman of the Bihar Minorities Commission. Interestingly, this decision of the Chief Minister was taken after a meeting with Prime Minister Modi. Today Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Karkat, Bihar. Notification related to this commission has been issued only after this public meeting.
This decision of Chief Minister Nitish is being considered a major political step towards protecting the interests of the upper castes and strengthening their voice. Senior BJP leader Mahachandra Singh has been appointed as the first chairman of the Commission, while JDU’s Rajiv Ranjan Prasad will be the Deputy Chairman of the Commission. This appointment reflects the cooperative strategy of both parties in the upcoming elections. Chief Minister Nitish had earlier formed the Savarna Commission in 2011, although it was later deactivated for some reasons.
